Blended Seasons - No Line Watercolouring

Good Day Crafty Friends,

Hope your day is going swell. My Big Brown Box arrived yesterday so I had to open it and have a play with some new goodies!!! First out the box was the new and soon to be released Blended Seasons stamp set. This set will be available to purchase during the month of August. It has coordinating dies which I will be sharing projects created with soon. But today I wanted to share a simple but time consuming card I made with just the large floral image stamp.

Onto Water colour card, I stamped the floral image in Powder Pink ink. I masked the image and stamped it again on the left hand side to fill it up. I wish I had flipped the image before stamping again so the two flowers at the top of the card were not identical.

To colour the image I used Flirty Flamingo, Highland Heather and Granny Apple Green inks with a fine paint brush. For this technique to be a success you need to colour a little section at a time and once one section is complete, you must let it dry or move to another section not touching as the ink will spread.

I did this card in between yesterdays house cleaning. Paint a petal, do the linen. Paint a leaf, vacuum....you get the idea.

After all the water colouring was complete I gold heat embossed the sentiment and adhered a layer of Gold Foil before attaching to a Sahara Sand card base.

Hints & Tips
* I use several paint brush sizes - 0 and 2 and have cut the tip of the size 0 brush so it forms a sharp point.
*Have two water sources - one to clean in between colour changes and one purely for adding water to your card/ink pad.
*Always have paper towels close by. I have one under the jar of clean water so I can dab off the excess, a sheet under my ink pad in case i pick up too much ink and also one in my left hand to dab from the card if i have applied the ink to liberally.
*Stamp the image in the lightest ink possible - Powder Pink, Crumb Cake, Pink Pirouette, Petal Pink or Blushing Bride all work well.
*Mix a portion of ink with water (I just use the inside lids) and test the saturation. I usually make two puddles - one slightly lightly than the other.
*Break each image up into segments and 'paint' one segment of an image at a time. Allow each painted segment to dry before applying ink next to it, otherwise the inks will blend.
*Apply ink to each segment in lots of three - first application is a dot of the ink from the ink pad. Wash brush, dab on paper towel and then dip brush into clean water and add to your project. Spread ink using the water on your brush, working the ink half way or three quarters of the way up/down your segment. Repeat process spreading final application all the way to the edge of the image.
THEN LET THIS AREA DRY AND DO NOT PAINT NEXT TO IT UNTIL IT HAS.

The Limited Time Colour Your Season bundle will be available for customers to purchase next month. There are 12 stamps in the Blended Season Stamp set and 10 coordinating dies. Also being released as part of this Limited Edition Package are new water colouring pencils. More info coming soon.

More creations using both the stamp set and coordinating dies coming soon. Until then, stay awesome, stay organised and stay crafty
