Bright Wishes - Blends

Hello Crafty Friends

I have been playing with the Stampin' Up! Blends and have got to say I absolutely love them and cannot wait for Stampin' Up! to release even more colours.

Let me just add, I am not an expert,  I have not had any formal training in alcohol marker use. So if I find them easy to use then so can anyone.

Here are two cards I coloured using thick Whisper White card, an array of SU Blends colours and the Bright Wishes stamp set.

The images were stamped in Momento Black ink (to prevent bleeding when using alcohol markers) and coloured like I would when water colouring. The sky and grass are added last.

Almost all of my images previously were water coloured, which I still adore and find easy, just time consuming as you wait for layers to dry. Colouring with alcohol markers is so fast, clean and portable! I coloured these two while waiting for my daughter to complete her Christmas Shopping.

Thanks for visiting my blog today, until next time, stay crafty

Just Add Ink #387 - Colour Combination

Good Day Crafty Friends,

Hope you are having a great day and managed to squeeze in some crafting time. Its challenge time over at Just Add Ink, and this week Nikki has provided us with a delicious colour combination for you to play along with.

Garden Green, Cherry Cobbler and Whisper White. Instantly conjures thoughts of traditional Christmas for me - which I don't do well. But its a challenge, right? So I gave it my best shot and I actually liked some of my creations! Lol

https://just-add-ink.blogspot.com/2017/11/just-add-ink-387colour.html

We would love for you to join us. Just create a card using the colours in the swatch above and submit your entry here.  While you are there be sure to check out the inspiring cards the Design Team have created.

I ended up making three cards.....again. One was an absolute boo boo as I used the wrong shade of green. The second I wasn't overly happy with so submitted the third, which is the card below.

Just Add Ink is a fabulous challenge blog as it doesn't restrict you to certain brands/products. Although, I am a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, I enjoy stamping and love other companies products - some of my favourites being, My Favourite Things, Lawn Fawn and Altenew. I hardly buy these brands anymore but cant resit using sets I already own.

The next card uses all SU products. This was my 'bugga, wrong colour' card. I was being a tad lazy and picked up the base which I had already adhered the Old Olive DSP left over from a previous round of projects. It wasn't until I had used the new Stampin' Up! blends did I click that I wasn't supposed to be using Old Olive at all - gah moment. No loss though, I like the card and will send it to someone.

The third card uses small Christmas themed stamps to create the background. These were then coloured using Stampin' write markers. I die cut the card front using my new Paper Roses Rectangle Stitched dies (thanks Chloe and Kelly - I love them!). This was adhered to a black layer and then attached to the card base. The sentiment from the Brightly Lit Bundle was heat embossed in white on black card stock. To finish off the card I added few little pretty extra's (love those gold clips)

Hope you are inspired to play along with us.  Cant wait to see all this weeks amazing entries.

Until next time, stay crafty

Colour INKspiration #22 & #23

Good Day Crafty Friends,

Welcome to the Colour INKspiration Blog Hop #22 and #23. You are visiting Jackie. If you are following the blog hop you would have arrived here from fellow West Australian, the super creative, Nicole Wilson. Wasn't her framed art absolutely beautiful!  Joining us for this Blog Hop is guest designer Libby Dyson.

The Colour INKspiration Team have two stunning challenges to play along with this fortnight. Both are stunning inspiration pictures with a gorgeous collection of colours. You can choose to play along with just one or both challenges.

Here is my card for this yummy collection of colours. I adore this picture and the colours,  Christmassy with a lovely seaside theme. However, as you can see I didn't take any of those directions with creation. I wanted a CAS card with a slight Scandi feel. I adore this elongated style of card at the moment, and tend to make one in this size more frequently than not.

Card Base is Sahara Sand. Matt layers are Pear Pizzaz. The Whisper White back ground was stamped with the Post Script background stamp (stamped off as full strength was just too harsh). The deer from Merry Patterns was also stamped in Soft Suede and cut using the Stitched layers Thinlits. Marina Mist ink was used to stamp the flowers from Hello Friend stamp set and the sentiment from Colour Me Happy.

The second fabulous colour inspiration is a lovely rustic colour theme for Christmas. Such a classic and timeless colour palette for the Festive Season. I may have to adopt this for next years decorations.

Again, I didn't make a Christmas card lol I just wasn't feeling florally or santa-ish in the craft room during this creative session, so went with another simple card that would help me chew through my ever growing stash of DSP.

The card base is Crumb cake with a layer of whisper white and then Real Red card. Next, a layer of the funky black and white tartan looking check from the Merry Little Christmas DSP. A Silver Foil card banner was tucked underneath the Whisper White and Crumb Cake Stitched circle elements.

I have used the lanterns image from the Colour Me Happy stamp set and coloured with a Real Red Marker. The sentiment (one of my favourites at the moment) was inked in black Momento and adhered with mini dimensionals.

INKspired to join the challenge? It's so easy. Firstly, get some INKspiration by hopping around to see what all of the Colour INKspiration Crew have to show you. Then you have 12 days from today to make and upload your creation to the Facebook Colour INKspiration Group. You don't have to have a blog to participate but if you do you can link back to your post. Make sure you use all of the challenge colours. Not a member of the Facebook group yet? Just click here and ask to join Colour INKspiration, add the group to your favourites and share it with your crafty friends so they can join in the fun too. We can't wait to see what you create with these gorgeous colours.

Just Add Ink #386 - Just Add R

Good Day Crafty Friends

Happy Friday! Its challenge time over at Just Add Ink, and this week Tina has asked we Just Add "R". I love letter based challenges as the choices are limited to your imagination. I instantly thought Real Red or Rich Razzleberry with some Ribbon, but as you will see from my card, I ended up creating something that none of these elements.

Image may contain: text

As I am still in Christmas Card mode, I finally decided to add Reindeers for my "R" element. I had a piece of shimmery white card that had been water coloured with Lemon Lime Twist and Tempting Turquoise inks, just laying around from a previous project I opted not to use. I often make multiple backgrounds especially when water colouring or using embossing paste, as I am too lazy to do just one at a time - its the setting up and unpacking!

I like to work in a clean crafty space, and cannot leave these things out, cramping my style lol Its the same when using my sewing machine, I do multiple card fronts then pack the machine away. I think its time for more counter space in my crafty space, so I can have stations for each technique - wouldn't that be awesome!! A station for the Big Shot, Sewing Machine, Sponging/Water Colouring, Heat Embossing, Silhouette/Printer/Laminator.....Hubby says "keep dreaming" Gah!!

I will win one day soon lol My crafty space is on a Mezzanine level which also acts as a second lounge and has a portion for a desk with the computer. We watch tele up here in Winter as its easier to heat the Mezzanine level than the whole two storey house. Ive only been a demo for close to two years and my crafty space has encroached more and more into the lounge space.

No automatic alt text available.

The water coloured card was cut using the reindeer die from Santa's Sleigh bundle. These die cuts were adhered to a whisper white card front which has a layer of vellum over the top. This was adhered to a layer of Sahara Sand which was then wrapped in Neutral Twine, before adhering to another layer of whisper white.

A stitched oval was cut from whisper white card and then a Sahara Sand reindeer adhered to the right. I then stamped the top part of the sentiment from Merry Patterns in Crumb Cake ink. The "season" portion of the sentiment was stamped on a scrap piece in Soft Sky and Sahara Sand inks, fussy cut and then adhered to the stitched oval.

A Soft Sky snowflake die cut using the Colourful Seasons Bundle, was attached to the twine with the Merry Christmas sentiment stamped in Sahara sand attached to the snowflake.

This card has been addressed ready to send to one of the Design Team members - the lovely, talented and extremely supportive, Kelly Kent. Just waiting on a visit to the Post Shop, Kelly xx

I hope you can join us at Just Add Ink for this weeks challenge - Just Add "R". The Design Team have created some stunning cards to inspire you, be sure to check them all out here
Until next time, stay awesome

Just Add Ink #385 - Sketch Challenge

Hello Crafty Friends,

Hope you are having a great day. I cannot believe its Friday already! Why is it that the closer we get to the silly festive season, the weeks to seem to fly by faster and faster?

Being Friday means its challenge time over at Just Add Ink. Kim has created a fabulous sketch to inspire your creativity this week. Such a gorgoues sketch to work with, I found it extremely easy and fast to decide what goes where.

https://just-add-ink.blogspot.com/2017/11/just-add-ink-385sketch.html
I decided to take a break from my run on making Christmas cards and make something different using the stamp set that came with my new Stampin' Blends (alcohol markers) Colour Me Happy. I just adore the lanterns and little bird images in this set.

The card base is a square 6x6 square whisper white, with a strip of Merry Little Christmas DSP down the left hand side. I also fussy cut a few branches from the DSP for embellishments under the sentiment and bird.

The circle element of the sketch has been stamped with the wreath from the Hello Friend set in Old Olive ink. This was then cut using the Stitched Shapes Framelits. To add a little interest a black circle was tucked behind. The bird image from the Colour Me Happy stamp set has been coloured using the new SU alcohol markers in Rich Razzleberry and Crumb Cake. The sentiment is from the same stamp set - stamped in Archival Black.

Before attaching the stitched circle to the card base, a piece of DSP and Old Olive card were cut and placed underneath, on top of a delicate doily. To include the last element of the sketch some Black & White Bakers Twine was added.

The Design Team have created some stunning cards with this weeks challenge sketch. I hope you are inspired to play along with us. Join us by adding your card here.

Until next time, stay awesome

Color INKspiration Challenge #21

Good Day Crafty Friends,

Welcome to my blog. You are visiting, Jackie. If you are following the blog hop you may have arrived here from the wonderfully talented Rachel Palmieri. I am so excited to be able to join this fortnights Colour INKspiration blog hop, having missed the last one.

Our stunning colour palette for challenge #21 has been provided by Rose Packer. Joining us on our blog hop is our guest designer, Megan Lenske.

I initially wanted to create a colourful floral bouquet with the challenge colours, but ended up in a totally different direction. My 3D Aquarium card is completely foldable for posting.

I started with a Thick Whisper White card base. I scored an A4 sheet into 4 even panels leaving a tiny edge for a tab. Using the layering square Framelits, I extended the die cut to remove a rectangle on two of the scored panels. A piece of acetate was adhered to the inside of both rectangles with tombow.

The background was sponged with Soft Sky and Pear Pizzazz inks and them flicked with water. After this dried I flicked small amounts of Soft Sky and Pear Pizzazz. Once dry, I then stamped the seaweed image in Black Archival and applied Pear Pizzazz with an aqua painter.

The sand was created from Sahara Sand card and stamped with crumb cake using the seabed image from Magical Mermaid.  Next the fish were stamped in Archival Black and coloured using an Aqua Painter in all the challenge colours.

A few fish were adhered directly to the background along with the sandy floor. The background was then adhered to the box card base. The floating fish were adhered with acetate to the tabs at the bottom of the base card using tombow. Shells and seaweed die cuts created using a small leaf die from the Eclectic Layers Framelits were littered throughout the sandy sea bed.

The sentiments from Seaside Shore were stamped in Soft Sky and Pear Pizzaz, die cut using the stitched shapes Framelits - extended and shortened. The Ahoy There was fussy cut and adhered using mini dimensionals.

Just Add Ink #384 - Inspiration

Hello Crafty Friends,

Hope you are having a great day. The warmer weather is finally on its way to Western Australia. I walked into my craft area this morning to find the sun had been beaming through my window, onto cards I had laid out the night before. The ends of all the card bases had begun to curl slightly. Time for the blinds to be permanently drawn!! Such a shame as its lovely working under the natural light, with the sunshine warming my back.

https://just-add-ink.blogspot.com/2017/11/just-add-ink-384inspiration.html

Its challenge time over at Just Add Ink, and this week, Jan has chosen a stunning inspiration picture for us to work with. I just adore all the blue tones, especially the centre of those amazing blooms. For my card I chose to use the vibrant colours in the picture - the blues, white and yellow.

The card starts with a Thick Whisper White card base. The next layer is WW card embossed with the Softly Falling EF. The layered panel has been created by extending the square stitched framelit and the square scalloped edge framelit to make rectangle layers.

The flower die cuts were created using the Eclectic Layers Thinlits - again extending the die so the stems were longer. Dapper Denim, Tempting Turquoise and a little Marina Mist inks were splattered onto some, others had a brush apply ink directly to the die cuts.

To incorporate the yellow from the challenge picture, the sentiment was white heat embossed onto So Saffron card and adhered to the card with mini dimensionals.

The Just Add Ink Design Team have created some gorgeous cards inspired by this weeks challenge picture, be sure to check them out. Inspired to play along? We would love for you to join us, you can add your creation to the JAI challenge gallery, here.

Until next time, stay crafty
