Happy Friday! Today I would normally participate in the Just Add Ink challenges, but time has slipped away from me this week, so unfortunately I didn't get time to create something. I was totally bummed as this weeks challenge is Just Add GLITTER! The JAI Design Team have created some absolutely stunning projects, be sure to check them out here.

As mentioned yesterday, I am posting a few cards over the next few days as a catch up - the discovery of unwatermarked photos in my phone has prompted me to smash out these photos of cards I made months ago.

Just Add Ink #385 - Sketch Challenge

Hello Crafty Friends,

Hope you are having a great day. I cannot believe its Friday already! Why is it that the closer we get to the silly festive season, the weeks to seem to fly by faster and faster?

 

Being Friday means its challenge time over at Just Add Ink. Kim has created a fabulous sketch to inspire your creativity this week. Such a gorgoues sketch to work with, I found it extremely easy and fast to decide what goes where.

 I decided to take a break from my run on making Christmas cards and make something different using the stamp set that came with my new Stampin' Blends (alcohol markers) Colour Me Happy. I just adore the lanterns and little bird images in this set.

 

 

The card base is a square 6x6 square whisper white, with a strip of Merry Little Christmas DSP down the left hand side. I also fussy cut a few branches from the DSP for embellishments under the sentiment and bird.

 

 

 

The circle element of the sketch has been stamped with the wreath from the Hello Friend set in Old Olive ink. This was then cut using the Stitched Shapes Framelits. To add a little interest a black circle was tucked behind. The bird image from the Colour Me Happy stamp set has been coloured using the new SU alcohol markers in Rich Razzleberry and Crumb Cake. The sentiment is from the same stamp set - stamped in Archival Black.

 

Before attaching the stitched circle to the card base, a piece of DSP and Old Olive card were cut and placed underneath, on top of a delicate doily. To include the last element of the sketch some Black & White Bakers Twine was added.

GDP #107 - Thanks using Hello Friend

Good Day Crafty Friends,

Hope your day is going well. Yay, made it to hump day, only a few more days and it's the weekend!!!!! School Holidays can be chaotic times - routines go out the door, the house is a mess, sleep ins occur, meaning everyone fends for themselves at breakfast and lunch time. All of which equates to less crafting time.

I did however manage to whip up a card for this weeks Global Design Project #107. The theme is Grateful. It's also a timely challenge for me, as I have a few Thank You cards I need to make and send out.

I have used a few layers to create this card and totally love it. I started by creating the Wood background, inking the Wood Grain Background stamp in Sahara Sand onto Whisper White card. A layer of vellum was laid over the top and then sewen with a basic stitch. Natural twine was wrapped around four times and then these layers were adhered to a Sahara Sand card base with dimensionals.

 

The next two layers are cards from the Memories & More Perfect Days pack - both matted using Sahara Sand and Softy Sky. The wreath from Hello Friend was white heat embossed on Sahara Sand card. The flowers have been stamped in Softy Sky. The wreath and flowers were fussy cut and adhered using dimensionals over a vellum scalloped circle. The Layering Circles Framelits were used to create the vellum scalloped circle.

 

A natural twine bow was added at the top of the wreath with a thanks tag tucked underneath the wreath so the sentiment dangles below. The Sentiment from In The City was cut down from a longer greeting.

Colour INKspiration CI#18 Blog Hop - Colourful Seasons

Welcome to the Colour INKspiration #18 Blog Hop. You are visiting Jackie.  If you are following the blog hop, you would have arrived here from the very talented, Julia Quinn.  How stunning is her card with all those gorgeous flowers cascading down the brick wall!!

I am super excited to be joining the Colour INKspiration crew on a permanent basis.  Colour challenges are so much fun and I am extremely grateful to be on this journey with such lovely and extremely talented ladies.

When I saw the challenge inspiration picture, I instantly fell in love with the scooter. I always wanted a Pink Scooter when I was a teen, but this wasn't an option unless you brought brand new. I had a second hand Army Green scooter.  It was ugly, loud, but cheap to run and always got me from A to B. (maybe with a few friends on the back!)

Basic Grey, Sweet Sugarplum, Powder Pink and Sahara Sand is such a gorgeous combination. You also have the option of adding a green of your choice.

I chose to make a card I designed last year which was filled with succulents. I've revamped the Greenhouse and created a little Conservatory using the challenge colours.

The card is basically an envelope card, with four windows glued together to look like the top and front of a conservatory. To fold for posting you push the centre inwards and it folds into itself. The two flaps, top and bottom, that hold the sentiments, become the envelope. Or, you have the option of attaching a panel to the back for writing and then put the whole card folded into an envelope.

Back Wall and Floor

Onto Very Vanilla card, I have sponged Sahara Sand ink through the brick wall stencil -from the Party Pattern Decorative Mask set. I've also used the same mask set to create the rug on the floor, with the medallion stencil and Powder Pink ink. A Powder Pink stitched circle has been adhered with tombow to the centre of the medallion stencilling. Both the floor and walls have been attached to the card with Tombow.

Furniture

The chairs and coffee table were cut in basic grey card using the Colourful Seasons Thinlits. To make the coffee table - just cut two chair bottoms and adhere together. The coffee table openings were backed with Sweet Sugarplum card. The beverage is stamped in Sweet Sugarplum ink. To enable the card to be folded the furniture is attached to the floor with strips of acetate.

The standing lantern on the back wall has been made using the Brightly Lit Bundle, with flowers from the Hello Friend stamp set and the leaf die from Eclectic layers Thinlits.

The Sweet Sugarplum flower boxes on the back wall, were created using the Hearth and Home Framelits window box cut down. The same flowers and leaf die that were used to create the lantern have been used to fill the flower boxes.

The flower basket outside the conservatory is the Hot Air Balloon from Up and Away Thinlits, cut down. The exterior is cut from Sahara Sand card and backed with Basic Grey.  The basket is filled with flowers from the Hello Friend stamp set inked in both Powder Pink and Sweet Sugarplum.

The sentiments from Colourful Seasons were stamped in Sahara Sand on panels of very vanilla card. These panels have then been added to layers of Sahara Sand and Powder Pink before attaching to the very vanilla card front. The whole card is then put onto a Sahara Sand card base.

A few rhinestone jewels have been added to some of the flowers on the back wall to finish it off. 

Folded for posting, wrapped in Powder Pink ribbon with a bow and gold sequin trim.

Hello Friend

Hello Crafty Friends,

 

Hope your week is going well. Also hope wherever in the world you are, you are having better weather than us in Perth today. It is pouring like crazy outside, we have had to empty the pool twice already, which is so outside the norm.

 

Todays card was made for a friend who by the time I post this should have received the day before she has some minor surgery.

The Sahara Sand card front was stamped with the Postscript background stamp in crumb cake ink. I adhered it to the Thick Whisper White card base with trusty betsy (my sewing machine) and her zig zag stitch.

The sentiment from the Hello Friend stamp set was inked in Crumb cake and cut using circles from the stitched shapes Framelits. I also used these Framelits to cut circles from Powder Pink and a Memories and More card. The die cuts are made using the Eclectic Layers and Love Notes thinlits, from Sahara Sand card.

Hello Friend and Decorative Mask

Hello Crafty Friends,

I have some more fantastic news to share with my crafty readers today, but first a card! 

The Hello Friend stamp set is part of the new heat embossing kit, which is among a few kits available in the Annual Catalogue. 

This stamp set has the beautiful hello sentiment which I have used on this card. I love the font. It also has a partial background stamp. This stamp has an almost trellis look with faded out edges, and it looks great heat embossed and coloured with watercolour splashes.

For this card I have done exactly that. On Shimmery white card, the trellis stamp was white heat embossed. Then using an aqua painter I splashed Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo and Peakaboo Peach inks.

The large detailed floral Thinlit from May Flowers was used to cut the Peakaboo Peach die cut. Two flowers from Remarkable You stamp set were stamped in Archival Black ink and coloured using an aqua painter in Melon Mambo and Daffodil Delight. Sorry that was short and sweet but I was so eager to type the next paragraph lol

 

My news.....I have been asked to be a guest designer during August and September for Just Add Ink! I cannot express how delighted I am to be given this amazing opportunity. The Design Team are absolutely amazing, so many talented creators, and so many demos whose work I have admired for sometime. I get the warm fuzzies looking at JAI DT List. So, its extremely exciting to work alongside some of my Stampin'Up! idols, but also immensely nerve wracking.  And even more amazing, I am one of five guest designers, I will be joined by the crazy talented - Lou Kitzelman, Jo Stubbings, Rachael Lewsley and Denita Wright-Smee! OMG right!!

Hello Friend Stamp Set

Hello Crafters

Today I want to share a card that uses the new stamp set called Hello Friend. This stamp set is part of the new Hello Friend Heat Embossing Project Kit.

 

It has a gorgeous wreath and small floral images along with a neat trellis type background stamp and four sentiments. I particularly love the hello sentiment stamp. The font is simply beautiful. 

I have a thing for wreaths with loads of colourful flowers, but also love green and white in a garden so I combined the two.

On a Sahara Sand card front, I have stamped the wreath image in Lemon Lime Twist. Next, I white heat embossed the smaller floral images and stamped the Hello sentiment on Whisper White and fussy cut. I added a few randomly placed rhinestones and loops of Bakers Twine before adhering the sentiment with dimensionals This was then attached to a Thick Whisper White card base.

 

I think I will get a lot of use from this stamp set. The sentiments are great and cant wait to try a Christmas themed wreath with that lovely stamp.

Retiform Technique

Hello Crafty Friends

A quick blog post today to share a card that uses the Retiform or Grid Technique to create a beachy themed card. Its an easy technique which involves masking, sponging and stamping.

There are many tutorials available out there for this technique so I wont bore you with the how to. I have used a few different stamp sets - High Tide and Pop of Paradise for the images and Hello Friend for the sentiment.

 

The sponging was done using Marina Mist and the images in Dapper Denim inks on Whisper White card. The card front was then mounted to a Dapper Denim card base.

Just Add Ink #367

Hello Crafty Friends

Today's card was super quick and easy to make thanks to the Perfect Days Memories & More card pack. This pack has been so amazingly versatile, I have made a lot of cards, some gift tags, and have used them to decorate projects by cutting shapes and using just like DSP.

My card's colour combination has been inspired by this weeks Just Add Ink Challenge #367. The only colour I really didn't apply in either ink or card was crumb cake, however the bakers twine and small wooden asterisk embellishment are both close to Crumb Cake.

Starting with a Lemon Lime Twist card base,  to this I attached a layer of Smoky Slate that has been embossed with the new Sweetheart embossing folder. Two layers of Bakers Twine were wrapped around the card base before applying the layers listed in the next step.

 

I have used three small cards from the Perfect Days Card Pack. One cut using the layering circle framelits, and a plain journaling card with grid lines was placed behind the Lemon Lime Twist speech bubble card. The  Hello sentiment from the Hello Friends stamp set was inked in Momento Black and stamped directly onto the Memories & More card.

I tried the "friend" stamp underneath the hello but preferred it without and decided to add a small wooden embellishment to the right hand side instead.

There are two of every card in these Memories and More packs so I was able to whip up two of these in a matter of minutes. Thinking I may have to order one of the other packs.....but which one?
