Colour INKspiration #33

Good Day Crafty Friends,

Welcome to this fortnights Colour INKspiration Challenge #33. You are currently visiting Jackie Aitken in Western Australia.  If you are following the Blog Hop you may have arrived here from my amazingly talented friend, Bronwyn Eastley. Wasn't her creation super adorable!! Be sure to follow the Hop all the way through to get some amazing inspiration on how the Design Team have used this fortnights colours.

The challenge colours are Night of Navy, Marina Mist, Always Artichoke, Very Vanilla and Sahara Sand.

Image may contain: flower, drink and plant

I have never used Always Artichoke as a colour in any form, ink or card. And with this deep in my mind, I found it super hard to come up with something for this challenge. I knew I was over thinking it, so I went ahead and created a card using predominately Night of Navy and Very Vanilla with gold accents.

I have so much DSP that I need to stop crushing on and just use! I decided to make a start on decreasing that DSP stash by using some to create this card. I loved this DSP, but with a new catalogue just around the corner, I just cant keep it all. I have used it to line the panels of this Tri-Fold Card.

The front panel has an Oval window with  die cut Very Vanilla and Gold Foil foliage, created using the Petals and More Thinlits. The Thank You sentiment from the new Painted Glass stamp set has been Gold Heat Embossed on Vellum and tucked into the window, over the foliage.

If you look real hard in the next photograph you can see die cuts in Marina Mist, Always Artichoke and Sahara Sand, adhered to the inside panel. This is my cheeky addition to the card, to ensure all the challenge colours were used. The sentiment has been Gold Heat Embossed.

The edge of the inside panel has been decorated using the  Detailed Floral Thinlits, cut in Very Vanilla  and backed with Night of Navy. Gold Glitter Card strips were added to tie in with the other Gold accents on the front panel.

Magical Day Fairy Castle - AddINKtive Designs

Good Day Crafty Friends,

It’s time to share this month’s creation for the AddINKtive Designs Team. I am so excited about this fancy fold card as I absolutely adore it!  Bronwyn has been extremely busy creating loads of new tutorials, all fancy folds and some with multiple interactive components in the one card!
The PDF tutorials have detailed step by step instructions with clear photographs. All cards in the Tutorial Shop are designed using Stampin' Up! products and fold flat for posting. Check out all the amazingly detailed fun fancy folds over at AddINKtive Designs here.

I chose to use Bronwyn’s Castle Bridge Fold Card Tutorial to create this Fairy Castle themed version. Any excuse to use those chubby unicorns!! lol You can find the tutorial I used to create this fun, fancy fold here.

To get the clouds and brick detail to really pop on such light coloured Card Stock, I sponged White Craft Ink onto the cloud and brick wall stencils and then applied White Embossing Powder and Heat Set.

I also added an extra tower in the middle of the fold. This was created using the smaller towers as a template and extending the shape.

I have used lots of White and Sweet Sugar Plum Glimmer Card Stock so the Castle sparkles and shines from all angles.

The Mermaids in the windows had their long locks chopped and then reattached closer to the window frame so that it looks like their hair is blowing out the window.

All images were stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and Coloured using a mixture of the light coloured Stampin’ Blends.

I cannot wait to make a Dragon & Knight version of this amazing Fold.
Until next time, stay crafty

Tasty Truck

I grew up in New Zealand and we had "Mr Whippy", the local Ice Cream truck that would drive the suburbs in the weekends, and all the neighbourhood kids would go into a mad panic trying to locate pocket money or parents for money, and rush out to Mr Whippy before he drove off. Great memories lol. So when I saw the Tasty Trucks stamp set as a free Sale-a-bration item I had to jump on that!

Plus I love to colour in using my Stampin' Up! ink pads and an aqua painter (I find it relaxing) so this stamp set was so much fun to play with.

Isn't it just the cutest darn thing! The stamp set comes with little food items for the window - ice cream cone, pancakes, taco's and a little cupcake. I have used the DSP from the Cupcakes & Carousels Paper Stack, which is available in the 2017 Occasions Catalogue. I have used so much of this DSP Pack I may have to get another and save it.

The little arrow and heart embellishments are made from the dies in the Love Notes Framelits. I think I may have a new thing for the doilies. I seem to be adding them to my cards a lot lately. I love how cute this set is but I especially love that it was FREE lol. I like freebies - who doesn't!!!

If you are not familiar with the Stampin' Up promotion SALE-A-BRATION, and you like Stampin'Up! products then do yourself a favour and check it out. For every $90 you spend until 31 March 2017, you get to choose a free item.  The items are listed in their own catalogue and includes stamp sets like the Tasty Trucks set I have used in the above cards. Click Here to check out the FREE items available as part of this promotion.

Nailed It Bundle Birthday Cards

Good Day Crafty Friends,

Male Cards have always been a bit of a struggle for me, but not anymore - The new Nailed It Bundle has come to my rescue. The stamp set has some pretty funny sentiment stamps and a fantastic Fathers Day stamp. My favourite are the tools. The Framelits die cut all the tools and includes a funky die and embossed ruler.

stampin up, masculine cards, nailed it bundle

The inspiration for the card above came from Tailored Craftiness. I changed the colours and sentiments to suit the recipient - Island Indigo, Black, Whisper White and Silver Foil card stock. The card below I CASED from Rose Packer at creativerosesstamping.

This is such a versatile set, great for all occasion male cards - birthdays, thanks, congrats, retirement and fathers day.  Also a great bundle for congrats cards for the new tradie in your lives who just landed an apprenticeship!
I have stamped the tools onto white shimmer card stock and used an aqua painter and my ink pads to colour them in before die cutting. The results from the hexagons dynamics embossing folder looks and feels amazing.

I am going to attempt to make a 3D tool box using this bundle, so keep an eye out in the future for a tutorial.

Happy Crafting xx
