JAI #371 Bella & Friends with Pretty Kitty Fancy Fold

Hello Crafty Friends,

Hope you are having a fabulous day.   I am super excited to share today's post, as the card I have created is for the Just Add Ink Challenge Blog, as a Guest Designer!!! 

To say I was ecstatic when asked to join the Design Team for August & September is an understatement. I danced around the lounge, then quickly questioned if there had been some kind of mistake, and I had received the invitation in error.?!? Could this be right?!? You see, the Design Team are a phenomenal group of creators, chokka block full with many of my Stampin'Up! Idols. 

I am one of five Guest Designers, joined by the extremely talented Lou Kitzleman, Jo Stubbings, Rachael Lewsley and Denita Wright-Smee. 

This weeks challenge at Just Add Ink is "Just Choose Two". I chose Pets and Patterned Paper.

Admittedly I am not a big user of DSP, and thought this was definitely going to be a challenge for me. I didn't struggle as much as I thought I would as soon as I decided to use dotti paper. In fact, I ended up creating two cards and couldn't decide which one to submit!

I procrastinated for over a week, finally deciding on the Double Z Fold Card.  The staircase card was inspired by Amanda Bates - The Craft Spa. Amanda's work is ah-mazing! Check out Amanda's card that provided my inspiration here. 

I have used images from the following stamp sets - Pretty Kitty, Bookcase Builder, Bella & Friends (birds), Glamper Greetings (string of party lights) and Happy Birthday Gorgeous (party hats). Both sentiments stamps are from the Birthday Delivery stamp set.  All images were stamped in Archival Black and coloured using Stampin'Up! Water Colour Pencils.

Some retired DSP was used for the wallpaper and to provide the view looking out the window.   I also used a teeny bit for the backing of the picture framed Antlers. I had to put lights on the Antlers! All images were fussy cut except the window and shelf which were Die cut using the Hearth & Home Thinlits.

Some fine tip glue was added to the party hats and parrot on the shelf, and a few rhinestones to the flowers in the pot and the all the Kitty's collars.

Custom Tee

Look at these cute T Shirts!! They have been made using the Custom Tee Bundle, which is available in the Stamin' Up! 2017 Occasions Catalogue. I haven't had a real decent play with this bundle yet but did manage to whip a few cards up as I wanted to see how the little tees looked using stamps from other sets.

I used the Hedgehog and Ladybugs from the Love You Lots Hostess Stamp Set and the Cat and Parrot are from the Pretty Kitty and Bella & Friends stamp sets. I stamped Black Archival ink onto Shimmery white card stock and used aqua painters to colour the animals, then let it dry before colouring the tee shirt backgrounds. Adhered with dimensionals the little tees pop right off the card.

 

I used to work in the retail clothing industry and making these little cuties reminded me of how many tees the staff and I would fold everyday. 

As you can see the options are limitless! And not one of these tees use the stamps from the bundle. I have yet to try those ones out. 

This card uses some DSP from the Sale-a-bration promotion, its called Carried Away and coordinates perfectly with the Up & Away bundle. But thought I would use a smidgen for this card as it required some Peakaboo Peach to match the colour of the ink used to water colour the T Shirt. The little cupcake is from Bella & Friends. The black and white DSP is from the Playful Palette Paper Stack, and I added some black and white Bakers Twine to match.

Using some more of the Carried Away DSP, I layered a quarter of the card front with Mint Macaron and adhered some pink Bakers Twine. The T Shirts have been stamped with the Hedgehog from Love you Lots stamp set and the Cat from Pretty Kitty. I used the Owl Punch to make the little hearts and the cloud die from Up & Away.

This card was made in a couple of minutes as I was using up scraps and die cuts I had sitting around. The flowers are from the Botanicals Builder Framelits, I also used the Layering Circles Framelits and DSP from the Cupcakes & Carousels DSP Paper Stack. The T Shirt was stamped in Black Archival using the Ladybugs from the Love You Lots Hostess stamp set and coloured in using an aqua painter and Daffodil Delight and Real Red inks.

Who let the dogs out? Bella & Friends

These are my fur babies, Shih Tzu Maltese crosses. This photo shows them with a recent hair cut, as its Summer here in Perth, and with some days hitting the forty's, bindies at the park and swims in the pool, its convenient for me and I'm sure a lot more pleasant for the dogs.

 

My constant companions in the craft studio. Bailey and Coby, two years apart in age and best of buddies. Both love my rubbish bin and all the paper scraps on the floor behind my counter. 

 

Great little helpers when it comes to picking up the little bits! The dog stamps from the Bella & Friends stamp set reminded me of my cuties. Here's a few cards I made with the animals from the stamp sets

 

I love the black and white splashed DSP from the Playful Palette Paper Stack, I have used it with Peakaboo Peach card stock and some black and white Bakers Twine. The animals were coloured using my aqua painter on Shimmery White card stock.

 

This one uses DSP from the A Little Foxy Paper Stack. The Hello sentiment from Pop of Paradise stamp set and the little butterfly die is cut using the Sunshine Wishes Framelits.

 

Again using another piece of DSP from the A Little Foxy Paper Stack. The "Congrats" is cut using the die from the Sunshine Wishes, and cut twice, once in Smoky Slate and then again in Blushing Bride. Layer the Brushing Bride on top and adhere to card front.

Pretty Kitty - Soft Kitty - Little Ball of...where's my wool?

Pretty Kitty was among the first stamps sets I got from the 2017 Annual Catalogue. We don't have cats as my two Maltese x ShihTzu are not big fans, but I grew up with cats and until we got our pooches, I had always owned a cat or lived with one lol who really owns a cat?!? 

Newspaper, balls of strings or boxes were always our cats favourite play things, which was great because they were cheap! With that in mind, I had to make the following card using one of the Kitty stamps.

 

Naughty lil Kitty! I heat embossed the hello greeting from the Pop of Paradise stamp set, a teeny tiny ball of bakers twine for the wool ball and my ever favourite the woodgrain background stamp was inked in basic grey and stamped on Bermuda Bay Cardstock. 

 

The card above uses the Hello sentiment again but this time heat embossed in white and die cut using layering circles. Two strips of DSP from the A Little Foxy Paper Stack were cut using the triple banner punch and adhered to a piece of Smoky Slate card stock that was embossed using the Large Polka Dot TIEF.

 

I love pastels, and also love how this card turned out. It's a simple technique - stamp image and then place a set of layering/nesting dies over the top and run it through your Big Shot. 

 

 

Again, another simple card using some DSP. Pretty Kitty was stamped in Archival Black and coloured in using an aqua painter and ink pads. The border stamp from the Tin of Tags stamp set was stamped in Calyspo Coral to match the card stock and DSP.

 

DSP from the Playful Palette Paper Stack was used with Sweet Sugar Plum Cardstock. The sentiment was die cut using Project Life Cards & Labels Framelits, and heat embossed in silver to match the little bling.

Bella & Friends and Pretty Kitty House Fold Card

Hello and Welcome to my crafty blog.

I made this card for my beautiful sister who lives in New Zealand. She loves animals and is a cat owner today but we grew up with dogs - mainly cocker spaniels. So when I saw the Kitty & Bella Stamp Sets in the Stampin' Up! 2017 Annual Catalogue I knew I had to get them to make my "Blister" a special birthday card. As mentioned she lives across the ditch so I needed to make sure my creation could be posted. 

 

This card was inspired by a fellow Stampin' Up demonstrator whose talents I admire immensely - Amanda Bates from The Craft Spa. She is a UK demonstrator and has been very generous with her talents and provided a lot of free tutorials on her website. Look her up - her work is amazing! 

I have used a few different stamp sets on this card:

• Blooms & Wishes
• Watercolour Words

 

I have also used the Hearth & Home Window Dies, for the fireplace, window and the front doors. Project Life Cards & Label dies and Tags & Labels Framelits were also used to make the picture frames on the walls and the drawers.  I will make a tutorial for this project in the near future, in the meantime happy crafting x
