GDP #107 - Thanks using Hello Friend

Good Day Crafty Friends,

Hope your day is going well. Yay, made it to hump day, only a few more days and it's the weekend!!!!! School Holidays can be chaotic times - routines go out the door, the house is a mess, sleep ins occur, meaning everyone fends for themselves at breakfast and lunch time. All of which equates to less crafting time.

I did however manage to whip up a card for this weeks Global Design Project #107. The theme is Grateful. It's also a timely challenge for me, as I have a few Thank You cards I need to make and send out.

I have used a few layers to create this card and totally love it. I started by creating the Wood background, inking the Wood Grain Background stamp in Sahara Sand onto Whisper White card. A layer of vellum was laid over the top and then sewen with a basic stitch. Natural twine was wrapped around four times and then these layers were adhered to a Sahara Sand card base with dimensionals.

 

The next two layers are cards from the Memories & More Perfect Days pack - both matted using Sahara Sand and Softy Sky. The wreath from Hello Friend was white heat embossed on Sahara Sand card. The flowers have been stamped in Softy Sky. The wreath and flowers were fussy cut and adhered using dimensionals over a vellum scalloped circle. The Layering Circles Framelits were used to create the vellum scalloped circle.

 

A natural twine bow was added at the top of the wreath with a thanks tag tucked underneath the wreath so the sentiment dangles below. The Sentiment from In The City was cut down from a longer greeting.

Global Design Project #104 - Case the Designer

Good Day Crafty Friends,

Hope you are having a fantastic day. Its been hectic crazy in my neck of the woods of late. With this being my daughters final year at high school we have been busy with Year 12 stuff like balls and graduation preparations.

I have finally caught up on things (for now lol) and have had a chance to create a card to enter into this weeks Global Design Challenge!! Wahoooo! This weeks challenge is case the designer with a stunning creation by Allison Okamitsu.

 

I don't have the Lovely Inside and Out bundle...yet, it's on my list for October! So this required me to put my dazzling pink brainstorming hat on and think outside the square. I love the repetitive stamped background Allison has created so decided to start there. I used the sentiment from the hostess set In The City, inked in Powder Pink on whisper white card.

I also chose to give my card a similar layout to Allison's substituting the die cut word with a cheeky looking Toucan on a Swing! 

 

The Toucan and Floral images from the Good Vibes stamp set have been water coloured and fussy cut. The circle was cut using the Layering Circles Framelits. A panel of Whisper White card was sponged in Flirty Flamingo, Daffodil Delight and Tempting Turquoise, splattered with water using a paint brush and placed behind the card front cut out. 

 

I snipped the tips off the ends of a toothpick and secured some Black & White Bakers Twine for the swing.  A rhinestone jewel was added to the Toucan's head flower and a greeting from the Perfect Days Memories & More card pack was adhered with dimensionals.

Just Add Ink #376 - Just Add D

Hello Crafty Friends,

Hope you are having a fabulous day. I have some fabulous news to share with everyone today, but that can wait for now, as its challenge time over at Just Add Ink. Yipeeee!! This week, Tina has suggested we Just Add "D"

I have chosen to Add Dogs, Diagonal Stripes (in the DSP on the bottom) and Dots. I absolutely adore the Santa Paws stamp set. The stacked cat and dog Christmas tree is such a fabulous image to colour.

 

I stamped the image using Black Momento onto a Whisper White card front, slightly trimmed down on the front bottom to allow room to reveal a little strip of DSP. I also stamped the sentiment in Real Red and then put this piece aside.

 

On a piece of shimmery white card, I stamped the image again but this time using Archival Black ink. Let the ink dry thoroughly before using an aqua painter to colour the entire stamped image. Once dry, light washes of Tempting Turquoise ink was used to colour the background.

 

I used a variety of sizes from the Layering Circles Framelits, to cut different parts of the water coloured stamped image. Tombow was used to adhere the coloured die cut circles to the stamped image on the card front.

 

The contrast between the coloured and uncoloured areas is a lot more vivid in real life. I used the same technique for the next two cards.

These two cards use the images from the Ready for Christmas stamp set.

Just Add Ink Challenge #368

Good Day Crafty Friends,

Hope yours has been an enjoyable one.  It's a gorgeous winter day here in my part of Western Australia. The sun is shining, the washing is drying and being the last day of the school holidays, I have the day off to tinker away in my crafty space.

One of the cards I made this morning may seem a little premature for this time of year - it's a Christmas card, and a non traditional one at that.

This weeks challenge over at Just Add Ink is to use a Birthday stamp set for Christmas.  Click on the link below to see the Design Team inspiring creations, or to join in and play along. 

I felt like stamping today, so using the Gift and Party Hat images from the Birthday Delivery stamp set, I stamped in a circular pattern using Archival Black ink, first with the wrapped gift then filling in the free space with the party hat.

The images had a little colour added using Lemon Lime Twist and Island Indigo inks. I have used Island Indigo card to make the square card base and backed the stamped circular image with Lemon Lime Twist.

 

The sentiment from a retired set called Merry Everything was inked in Archival Black and cut using the Layering Circles Framelits, with the Island Indigo layer behind cut in the next sized scalloped circle Framelit. The die cut sentiment was adhered using dimensionals.

A little Black and White Bakers Twine was wrapped around the card base, before adhering the card front to the base with dimensionals.

Yay for having started my Christmas Cards, albeit all of one! It will encourage me to make more so it is not sitting behind a tab that says "Family Christmas Cards" all by its lonesome.

Happy Birthday Thinlit

Hello Crafty Friends,

Hope you have had a great day. I have spent the morning crafting and blogging, so mine has been a productive one.  Today's card was the last card I made today, had no plan or sketch in my mind - just colours.
 

I have a pile of Powder Pink card stock so decided to use some for the card base. I also embossed a strip with the Sweetheart Embossing Folder. 

The card front uses the Post Script background stamp, inked in Powder Pink on Whisper White card. 

 

The Circles were cut using the Layering Circles Thinlits. The black and white circles are Perfect Days Memories and More cards. Another circle was cut from Sahara Sand and used to back the Happy Birthday Thinlit which was cut from Powder Pink card.

 

 

A layer of Black & White Bakers Twine was wrapped over the embossed strip and the die cut shapes and Thinlits were adhered over the top using tombow.

Air Mail - JAI #366

Good Day Crafty Friends

I have a quick and easy card to share today. July is another huge month for birthdays in my circle, so I needed a few cards that were fast and simple to reproduce. Plus, I was eager to ink up one of my new background stamps.

This weeks challenge over at Just Add Ink is a letter based theme. Just add "A". Check out the Design Teams and challenge players amazing creations, or come join in the fun and play along.

 

The new Post Script background stamp has Airmail markings among other cool postage images. So A for Airmail is my entry this week. 

To start I cut a mask from printer paper using the largest circle Die in the Layering Circle Framelits. The mask was centred on a Whisper White card front and stamped using the Post Script background stamp inked in Crumb Cake. 

The card front was attached to a layer of Pool Party card stock which was then adhered to a Sahara Sand card base. 

The Happy Birthday sentiment from a retired SAB set called Designer Tee, was stamped in Black Archival on Pool Party card stock. A small strip of card from the Perfect Days Memories & More card pack and some Bakers Twine for a bow.

 

I made five of these card in a matter of minutes and have tucked the circle mask away to use again with the other background stamps I have in my collection.

Happy Birthday Gorgeous - You Make Me Smile

Our team of crafters had a shoe box swap recently - I love these events!!! So fun to catch up with my Stampin' Sisters, eat some yummy homemade deliciousness, make each other's cards while chatting over coffee or tea - perhaps a dance to Tina Turners Nutbush...more card making and chatting. 

We all choose a card to make and then prepare ten lots of everything required to make our chosen card. It's so much fun! Like musical chairs, we move from station to station creating ten cards of our choice from the selection team members have put together.

A fairly simple card using four colours - the new in colour Berry Burst, Sahara Sand, Powder Pink and Whisper White.

 

The floral images are from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous and Jar of Love stamp sets. The sentiment "You make me smile" is from the Colourful Seasons set.

 

The Whisper White card front was stamped using Sahara Sand ink and the little "nut" image, then a strip of Sahara Sand cardstock that was embossed with the Hexagons Embossing Folder and adhered over the top. The Whisper White circle was die cut using the Layering Circle Framelits which was added to a Scalloped edge layer in Berry Burst card stock.

 

The flowers from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous set are a two step stamp - the outside was inked using Berry Burst and the inside using Powder Pink. These were stamped and fussy cut and then adhered to the card in various places using dimensionals.

 

The little leaf under the bigger flower is from Jar of Love and was inked using Sahara Sand and die cut using the matching dies for this bundle.

 

The Whisper White card front was adhered to a layer of Berry Burst card stock and then attached to a base of Sahara Sand.

Magic Reveal Spinner Card with Beautiful You

One of the perks of being an Independent Stampin Up Demonstrator is the community of inspirational and talented people willing to share their knowledge, skills and the enjoyment of stamping.  A few weeks ago a very talented Australian Demonstrator by the name of Tanya DeRoy from Ink Responsibly shared a wonderful tutorial. Oh look her umbrella has gone and is replaced with a dancing girl wearing a sun hat!

 

Here is a close up. I have stamped the lady image twice. Once on the Whisper White Card stock and then on DSP. Fussy Cut the DSP and adhere with tombow to the stamped image on the WW.

For how amazing the effects of this card are - its not that hard if you follow Tanya's instructions. This was my first and now I know how it works and whats required I am definatley making more of these in the future.

Sew Some More

Before I put the ole girl (the sewing machine) away for proper this time, I just wanted to give these types of cards a quick whirl. Sewing Vellum over coloured punched shapes and then sewing the card front. 

 

So bright and bold and the concept has endless possibilities. 

 

The circles were punched from some scrap card stock in a variety of cheerful colours, then a layer of vellum cut slightly smaller than your card front goes directly over the top of the punched shapes and then sew around the edges - avoiding the circle punch outs. I used the Birthday sentiment & Pancake stamps from the Tasty Trucks Sale-a-bration set, cutting the circles and scalloped circle using the Layering Circles Framelits.

 

This card was made by folding a piece of velum in half (hence one edge did not require sewing). Next, I heat embossed the So Very Much "Thank You" stamp before filling with punched flowers. I then sewed three sides and adhered to cardbase using a sponge to apply Tombow.  Last but not least, I added a die cut butterfly from the Bold Butterfly Framelits, mainly to cover my wonky stitching in the corner, but thought it was a nice touch seeing the recipient is a female.
