Just Add Ink #379 Inspiration Picture

Good Day Crafty Friends,

Well, that week went uber fast! Thank goodness it's nearly the weekend. Hope we get a spot of that elusive thing they call sunshine.

It's challenge time over at Just Add Ink! My favourite time of the week. I am supposed to play along fortnightly, but I simply adore JAI challenges and just cant help myself. I love the variety in the challenges, they are so much fun and always inspire me to create items outside my comfort zone.

This week, the fabulously talented, Kelly Kent has chosen a stunning picture to draw inspiration from

https://just-add-ink.blogspot.com/2017/09/just-add-ink379inspiration.html

I just adore the pink and neutral tones. Plus, that jug of delishiousness makes me think of mocktails by Pool. I'm not a big drinker but give me a smoothie, frappe, glass of fruity punch and I'm a happy glamper. No I don't camp - are your crazy.....there are poisonous snakes in this country!

I chose to take the pinks in the jug of yummyness and soft white in the tablecloth and use them in my card. My card didn't turn out how I envisioned but was happy with it as I knew the receiver loves pink and stitched cards.

I stuffed up the card front stitching at the very end (see pic below) right hand top corner. blahhh!

It annoyed me so much I had to cover it with little glitter hearts. Then they looked ridiculous by themselves so added the Berry Burst hearts lol

I'm really digging square cards at the moment. This one is half a 12x12 sheet of Blushing Bride for the card base.

The card front has been water coloured with a light Powder Pink wash. Embossing paste and white embossing powder were applied through the medallion stencil, from the Party Patterns Decorative Mask set. I heat set the powder so the embossing paste has a lovely bright white sheen.

I then attached the card front to a layer of Blushing Bride and Crumb Cake card with a zig zag stitch around the border.

The Floral images from Remarkable You and Birthday Blooms were heat embossed in gold and water coloured using Powder Pink ink. The sentiment was also heat embossed in gold. A lace doiley, glimmer white card and vellum leaves, strip of glimmer white card, year of cheer embellishment and powder pink ribbon were layered using a Whisper White stitched circle as the centre piece

Be sure to check out my fellow design team creations here, so many beautiful cards - I love all the pinks! We would love for you to join us and play along.

Until next time, stay awesome

Colour INKspiration CI#18 Blog Hop - Colourful Seasons

Hello Crafty Friends,

Welcome to the Colour INKspiration #18 Blog Hop. You are visiting Jackie.  If you are following the blog hop, you would have arrived here from the very talented, Julia Quinn.  How stunning is her card with all those gorgeous flowers cascading down the brick wall!!

I am super excited to be joining the Colour INKspiration crew on a permanent basis.  Colour challenges are so much fun and I am extremely grateful to be on this journey with such lovely and extremely talented ladies.

When I saw the challenge inspiration picture, I instantly fell in love with the scooter. I always wanted a Pink Scooter when I was a teen, but this wasn't an option unless you brought brand new. I had a second hand Army Green scooter.  It was ugly, loud, but cheap to run and always got me from A to B. (maybe with a few friends on the back!)
Image may contain: people sitting, plant, motorcycle, flower and outdoor

Basic Grey, Sweet Sugarplum, Powder Pink and Sahara Sand is such a gorgeous combination. You also have the option of adding a green of your choice.
I chose to make a card I designed last year which was filled with succulents. I've revamped the Greenhouse and created a little Conservatory using the challenge colours.

stampin up, colourful seasons, stitched shapes, up and away thinlits, fancy fold card

The card is basically an envelope card, with four windows glued together to look like the top and front of a conservatory. To fold for posting you push the centre inwards and it folds into itself. The two flaps, top and bottom, that hold the sentiments, become the envelope. Or, you have the option of attaching a panel to the back for writing and then put the whole card folded into an envelope.

ORIGINAL SUCCULENT GREENHOUSE CARD HERE
Back Wall and Floor
Onto Very Vanilla card, I have sponged Sahara Sand ink through the brick wall stencil -from the Party Pattern Decorative Mask set. I've also used the same mask set to create the rug on the floor, with the medallion stencil and Powder Pink ink. A Powder Pink stitched circle has been adhered with tombow to the centre of the medallion stencilling. Both the floor and walls have been attached to the card with Tombow.

Furniture
The chairs and coffee table were cut in basic grey card using the Colourful Seasons Thinlits. To make the coffee table - just cut two chair bottoms and adhere together. The coffee table openings were backed with Sweet Sugarplum card. The beverage is stamped in Sweet Sugarplum ink. To enable the card to be folded the furniture is attached to the floor with strips of acetate.

The standing lantern on the back wall has been made using the Brightly Lit Bundle, with flowers from the Hello Friend stamp set and the leaf die from Eclectic layers Thinlits.

The Sweet Sugarplum flower boxes on the back wall, were created using the Hearth and Home Framelits window box cut down. The same flowers and leaf die that were used to create the lantern have been used to fill the flower boxes.

The flower basket outside the conservatory is the Hot Air Balloon from Up and Away Thinlits, cut down. The exterior is cut from Sahara Sand card and backed with Basic Grey.  The basket is filled with flowers from the Hello Friend stamp set inked in both Powder Pink and Sweet Sugarplum.
The sentiments from Colourful Seasons were stamped in Sahara Sand on panels of very vanilla card. These panels have then been added to layers of Sahara Sand and Powder Pink before attaching to the very vanilla card front. The whole card is then put onto a Sahara Sand card base.
A few rhinestone jewels have been added to some of the flowers on the back wall to finish it off.

Joy of Sets #007 - Letter W

Good Day Crafty Friends,

Hope you are having a fabulous day and have managed to squeeze in some crafting time for yourself.  It's challenge time over at Joy Of Sets. This weeks challenge letter is "W".
https://joyofsetschallenge.blogspot.com.au/2017/09/jos007-letter-w.html

Not familiar with JOS blog challenges?  Fiona Whitehead runs a fabulous Facebook group page called Joy Of Sets. It's an inspiring group where Stampin' Up! Demonstrators and non Demonstrators share their creations using both retired and current Stampin' Up! Products.  You can also enter the monthly colour challenge just by submitting a picture of a card you have created using that's months chosen colour, directly to the FB group page - no blog needed.

Alongside the FB group page, Fiona has started a fortnightly blog challenge - Joy of Sets Challenge Blog. Each fortnight a different letter is chosen and participants are required to enter a card, which has the challenge letter in the stamp sets title eg this fortnight we are working with W - I chose to use Watercolour Wings.

To a Thick Whisper White 5"x5" card base, I added a strip of Merry Little Christmas DSP. Then to a Whisper White card front that had been embossed with the Softly Falling Embossing Folder, a strip of black card was added behind the card front before attaching to the base.
Two layers of Whisper White card were used as the base for layered butterfly cluster - the top layer has splatters of Powder Pink ink, created using the gorgeous grunge stamp set. Bakers twine was wrapped around the top before adhering to the card front with dimensionals.

Using the Watercolour Wings stamp set, the butterfly was inked in Powder Pink and Momento black. Old Olive card was used to cut the leaves using the Botanicals Builder Thinlits. The frames behind the butterfly were created using the squares from the Stitched Shapes Framelits.

A few banners of card were tucked behind the butterfly cluster and sentiment, to tie the cards overall colour combination together. The sentiment from Floral Phrases was stamped in Old Olive to coordinate with the ribbon tucked under the sentiment. A few rhinestones were added to finish it off.

Hope you are inspired to play along. Pull out a current or retired stamp set that has the letter "w" in its title and share with us here. Thanks for stopping by today.

Until next time, stay awesome

Oh So Succulent Greenhouse Card

Good Day Crafty Friends,

Welcome, I hope you are having a fabulous day.  Today, I'm so excited to share my very own creation!! The whole point of starting my blog is being able to share my creations with a wider audience. I designed this envelope fold Succulent Greenhouse card quite by accident. It showcases the amazing, new Oh So Succulent Stamps & Dies, which are available as a bundle from Stampin' Up!.

oh so succulent, stampin up, fancy fold card

My "happy accident" occurred when I was trying to construct something completely different. I was fiddling and dropped it on the floor, when I picked it up, my creation was on a different orientation and looked more like a Greenhouse than what I was originally trying to create - which was a shop front for some stamped tee shirts.

I love the sentiments used on the inside of the card - both are from the Bookcase Builder stamp set. The little floral images inked around the sentiments were stamped in Pink Pirouette to match the layered panels.

Close up look at the inside of the card reveals planter boxes and pot plants fill with water coloured succulents. The Hot Air Balloon Thinlit from the Lift Me Up Bundle was used to create the Pot Plant holders. The Brick Wall & Wood Grain Embossing Folders were used to create texture on the back walls and floor.

The card folds by "poking" the middle of the window frames lol. The back of the card has a Whisper White panel for a handwritten greeting.

As it is an envelope fold, I decided to add a sentiment to the front of the card as well - this gorgeous sentiment is from the Paisleys and Posies stamp set.

I have had many requests for custom orders for this card - Thank You to all those willing to purchase my creations, I hope the recipients loved their handmade card.

Until next time, stay awesome

Just Add Ink #378 - Add Texture

Hello Crafty Friends,

Happy Friday! It's challenge time at Just Add Ink. This week we are playing along with texture.

https://just-add-ink.blogspot.com/2017/09/just-add-ink-378texture.html

So many choices to chose from: Embossing, Debossing, Embossing Paste, Scoring, Fabrics, Ribbons, the list goes on. For my card I chose to add a slight touch of texture in the form of feathers

The card base is a piece of Foil Frenzy DSP, in Berry Burst. It's reasonably thick and makes a great base, especially with layers inside and out.

On a piece of Shimmery White card, I splashed some Powder Pink ink (say that ten times really fast)with an Aqua Painter.  Then, heat embossed gold splatters, created using a small stamp from Timeless Textures.

Using the Fabulous Flamingo stamp set, I inked the Flamingo in Melon Mambo - stamping off first for the interior stamp to ensure the outline stamped darker.  I attached the feather using strips of double sided adhesive.

The sentiment from the same stamp set was heat embossed in gold on Berry Burst card. Strips of gold glimmer card were tucked underneath the sentiment, adhered with tombow.

A layer of Berry Burst has been adhered to the card front on an angle and then the Shimmery White card front adhered on opposing angle. The sentiment strip was adhered with dimensionals.

It's so sparkly, fluffy,  pink and gold, I just know the lass it's been made for will adore it.

My fellow Design Team members have created some stunning cards using texture for this weeks challenge. Be sure to check them out here . We would love for you to join us and play along. You have until Wednesday to create and submit your card.

Until next time, stay crafty

Global Design Project #104 - Case the Designer

Good Day Crafty Friends,

Hope you are having a fantastic day. Its been hectic crazy in my neck of the woods of late. With this being my daughters final year at high school we have been busy with Year 12 stuff like balls and graduation preparations.

I have finally caught up on things (for now lol) and have had a chance to create a card to enter into this weeks Global Design Challenge!! Wahoooo! This weeks challenge is case the designer with a stunning creation by Allison Okamitsu.

http://www.global-design-project.com/2017/09/global-design-project-104-case-designer.html

I don't have the Lovely Inside and Out bundle...yet, it's on my list for October! So this required me to put my dazzling pink brainstorming hat on and think outside the square. I love the repetitive stamped background Allison has created so decided to start there. I used the sentiment from the hostess set In The City, inked in Powder Pink on whisper white card.

I also chose to give my card a similar layout to Allison's substituting the die cut word with a cheeky looking Toucan on a Swing!

The Toucan and Floral images from the Good Vibes stamp set have been water coloured and fussy cut. The circle was cut using the Layering Circles Framelits. A panel of Whisper White card was sponged in Flirty Flamingo, Daffodil Delight and Tempting Turquoise, splattered with water using a paint brush and placed behind the card front cut out.

I snipped the tips off the ends of a toothpick and secured some Black & White Bakers Twine for the swing.  A rhinestone jewel was added to the Toucan's head flower and a greeting from the Perfect Days Memories & More card pack was adhered with dimensionals.

EDITED 21/9/2017 - My card was selected as a Winner!!!
Wahoooooooooooooo!

Until next time, stay crafty

Just Add Ink #377 - Just Add Colour Combo

Hello Crafty Friends,

Hope your day is going well. Its starting to warm up ever so slightly in Perth. Yipee! I had warm sunshine on my crafting table this morning, which was a first in a long time. It will be a short window of perhaps a month, before I will have to start drawing the blinds to work at my counter - Perth sun is a killer on my ink pads and cardstock. If I leave an unfinished project untouched for a few days, the sun will bleach my card stock and colouring.

Anywho, enough waffling! Its challenge time over at Just Add Ink, and this week Rochelle has chosen a stunning colour combination to inspire you

https://just-add-ink.blogspot.com/2017/09/just-add-ink-377colour.html

I have beach towels, tea towels, table cloths, outdoor cushions and a hammock with stripes in these colours! Great clean and crisp colours for summer décor and anything poolside. I instantly thought nautical but  I chose to make a Christmas card using lots of white to ensure the challenge colours popped.

I started by making a band with strips of Lemon Lime Twist, Pool Party and Dapper Denim.  I then cut this down the middle and adhered to either side of the card base. I flipped the direction of one side so there was more interest opposed to making them the same on each side.

Next I stamped some floral images using all three colours onto some whisper white card. From this I cut three snowflakes using the colourful seasons Thinlits and adhered directly to the card base using tombow.

I also cut a house from a strip of whisper white card, that had been die cut using the Hometown Greetings Edgelits. Some dazzling diamonds glimmer card was placed behind the house. (I must say the glimmer paper looks amazing in the light of the computer and my dimly lit crafty space, compared to direct sunlight - which is almost blinding!) The deer from Santa's Sleigh Bundle has also been cut from dazzling diamonds glimmer card.

The sentiment has been heat embossed in white on Dapper Denim card. Lemon Lime Twist and Pool Party strips were tucked behind. A band of vellum has been laid over the snowflakes and then everything adhered with Tombow. The deer and sentiment were raised with dimensionals.

I can see myself making loads of Christmas cards with this fabulous colour combination. I just love it! Why not join us at Just Add Ink and play along. Don't forget to check out the talented Design Team's amazing creations!

Until next time, stay awesome

Colour INKspiration CI#17 Blog Hop - Beachy Little Christmas

Hello Crafty Friends,

Welcome to the Colour INKspiration #17 Blog Hop. You are visiting Jackie.  If you are following the blog hop, you would have arrived here from the amazingly talented Bronwyn Eastley. How fantastic is her gorgeous card!

I am so super excited to be taking part in this blog hop as Guest Designer with the talented Colour INKspiration Crew.  Tanya has chosen this weeks inspirational image and stunning colour combination of Flirty Flamingo, Pool Party, Lemon Lime Twist and Tempting Turquoise.

Don't you just love those colours!!  Such a bright and fun colour combination. It instantly made me think of summer - sun loungers, beach towels, beach umbrella's and music festivals. Fun, Fun, Fun! So with that in mind I decided to create a beach themed Christmas card. This is what I came up with, Santa on Boxing Day at the Beach. Watch your toe's, Santa!

stampin up, beachy christmas card, fancy fold, santa suit bundle

I have created a card in a box with the front and side flaps removed. The front of the box has an additional panel  added to create an underwater scene. The panel has an acetate window and was created using the shells and crab images from the Beachy Little Christmas stamp set. They, along with the Palm Trees and Beach Huts, were watercoloured using the fun challenge colours.

stampin up, beach christmas card, santa suit bundle, fancy fold

The seaweed are die cuts made using the Eclectic Layering Thinlits. A layer of vellum was cut using the scallop edge thinlit in the Colourful Seasons bundle. The Pool Party background has been embossed using the Softly Falling Embossing Folder.

The Pool Party and Tempting Turquoise waves inside the card, have also been cut using the scalloped edged Thinlit from Colourful Seasons. Santa was stamped in Black Momento and Flirty Flamingo inks and then cut on a slight angle.  The bottom half has been placed under the window sheet on the front panel and the top half has been adhered to the back of the front panel.

A few rhinestone jewels have been added to the Beach Shack door handles and a couple tucked into the sand in the window panel. I used the sentiment "Happy Holidays" from the Fesitve Phrases stamp set ( its the one the Elf is holding, I have cut away the Elf parts carefully and used them to hold the greeting on the back of the card) See Below
